Music like a choir of angels

by Kevin Birnbaum

I love sacred choral music and I love the Tudor Choir, the internationally acclaimed group directed by my friend the brilliant Doug Fullington. For months I’ve been looking forward to the release of their seventh CD, O splendor gloriae, which will feature the music of the English Renaissance composers John Taverner, Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, and John Sheppard. So I’m very excited for the choir’s CD release concert on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at beautiful Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle. In addition to music from the CD, the concert will feature two performances (one at the beginning and one at the end) of Tallis’s forty-part masterpiece Spem in alium.
